About Me
I am Barbara Craig, a rather active elder who started training her own cocker spaniels in obedience in 1978. I dabbled in scent hurdles (that's before flyball) and then indulged myself with the dog everyone said I should not get -- a Border Collie. Dax tried everything with me -- my first Utility Dog title, Agility (earned a MAD), a little flyball, a PT in herding and was the best dog ever. I ran out of cockers and got more Border Collies. Of my total ten (currently, three are still young -- and I have only two adults) 5 have earned their UD (one OTCH) and 3 have been herders (two HCs). I bred HC Tazz UD myself and bought or rehomed the others. (Dax, Eve, Geordi, Spyce and Rayn -- all gone but never forgotten). Thyme is my current herding dog, an AKC Herding Champion and Open trialer. I have three Thyme daughters, none trained up yet.
HC Tazz UD is my second herding dog and 5th UD. We dabbled in Agility until my knees got too painful but replaced that sport with carting so he and Thyme could exercise and be in shape for long outruns and courses in sheepherding. Tazz retired from courses but gets to help at trials by removing sheep from the field. He was bred to Thyme in fall of '22 and I have two of their daughters. (A High In Trial at Linden Hollow in 2018.)
My second UD dog OTCH Geordi UDX was a great teacher. We ran the gamut in training experiences to get it "right" and give me a real sense of accomplishment. After years of "getting the titles" on cockers we went for broke and made the big time. Dax made UD first but Geordi took me to the top. The next three did not share his desire for precision so he is still my only OTCH. (HIT and HC with Jon Mett at Strawberry Cluster Lakeland.)
My friends and I were a team at the first NAFA Flyball Tournament in Florida (-- at Ketch in Tampa, 1998) and played on three different clubs until 2014. Some of my dogs were dual or triple purpose -- Obedience, Agility and/or Flyball. Prix was a Border/Jack and my highest titled Flyball dog. One of my many Onyx dogs, he also had MB Onyx, FGDCH30, FDGCH 40, and Iron Dog. Not super fast, he was rock steady and seldom messed up a heat. Several of my Border Collies were Flyball dogs... Eve, Geordi, Spyce and Rayn all ran in tournaments.

FiredUp Peyton is a fine example of Thyme's offspring (Sept '22). Training in herding and flyball, he is full of energy but knows how to be nice in the house. This litter was sired by my HC FiredUp Tazz UD HXASM HXBS HXDS. All pups of that litter are working in Agility, Obedience, Herding or being the family energy in the yard.
